UFC's Macy Chiasson lucky to be alive after deadly crane collapse destroys Dallas apartment

“The Ultimate Fighter 28” winner Macy Chiasson is lucky to be alive after a construction crane collapsed onto her Dallas apartment building on Sunday.

One person was killed and five were injured when the crane gave way in a sudden thunderstorm, cutting a huge gash through the building and pancaking a nearby parking garage.

Chiasson, 27, had just come home when she heard what sounded like “a little bit of construction” and then a loud boom.

“Once I heard that, I called my dog,” Chiasson told TMZ Live. “I said, ‘T, we’ve got to go.'”

Chiasson had only time to grab her phone and her dog’s leash before she started running out of the building. She said the air quickly turned pitch black with debris and dust. She picked up her dog and ran into the lobby to find other tenants who’d just made it out.

“I saw this lady in a window, and she was just bleeding and shaking and crying, and when I looked past her, there was no apartment there,” Chiasson said.

The crane stopped just short of the first-floor unit Chiasson moved into after relocating to Dallas to train at Fortis MMA. Chiasson thanked the UFC and apparel sponsor Reebok, who sent clothing as she prepares to head back to her native New Orleans. There, she’ll replace the identification she lost in the accident.

‘I’ve completely lost everything,” Chiasson said.

Officials issued a severe weather warning prior to the storm, and winds of up to 80 miles per hour were recorded, according to a Dallas NBC affiliate. An investigation is underway into the cause of the collapse. The company that operated the crane had been cited by OSHA for 18 safety violations over the past decade.

Chiasson, who in May picked up her fifth straight win with a second-round TKO of Sara Moras, has filed a lawsuit against the apartment building and the company that operated the crane
